how my son got on the counter in the first place, he was brushing his teeth - he gets on the counter and straddles the sink. the only problem was that his toothbrush was put into the toothbrush holder upside down, and when he tried to pull it out, it wouldn't come right out. so he pulled harder. and i think you know the physics of what happened next.
